Borussia Dortmund blow Schalke away in derby win
The image that many wanted to see, even if it was from home. The ball rolled into Signal Iduna Park two months later and did so no less than a Ruhr derby between Borussia Dortmund-Schalke. The restart of the Bundesliga is sports history. The first major league to challenge the pandemic with the ball and its strict protocol had its grand opening ceremony at Signal Iduna Park.
During the Borussia Dortmund-Schalke, the less yellow wall showed the world the football to come: face masks, disinfectants, interviews with the microphone on poles, temperature controls, public address system supplying the decibels of the throats, celebrations without contact Never seen before. Fans ‘took off’ the jumpsuit in a show without artifice. Avoiding infections and finishing Leagues is the double goal. And the most unusual ‘Revierderby’ only had traces of pre coronavirus football in the offensive torrent of Dortmund.
Haaland, Brandt, Hazard, and Guerreiro shone as in March. The rest were greetings with the elbows, cleaning of the balls, distance in the benches and masks, rigid rules of entry and exit. The players did not even touch each other until they fought for leather on the grass. And in the battle for victory, a coronavirus-free redoubt and without conditions, Borussia Dortmund swept Schalke. The derby was yellow (4-0) and the BVB extended, 66 days after the break, its pulse with Bayern. Now they are one point away from a Bavarian giant who will have to fight in Berlin against the Union.
Borussia Dortmund – Schalke: Goals and analysis
The best player of the match was neither Haaland nor Sancho. Julian Brandt dressed in etiquette to demonstrate that the beauty of football is not only in goals. The Borussia Dortmund playmaker took advantage of his technical quality to be the capital in the first three goals; which completely dried Schalke, who was much lower.
In the first, a subtle touch of Brandt ‘s spur released Hazard, who served Haaland who, first and with the inside, put the ball well away from Schubert; who could do nothing but watch as the ball entered (29′ ). Just before the break, the German attacking midfielder took advantage of an error in the ball from the goalkeeper of Schalke to leave Guerreiro alone; who crossed it with precision (45′). Already on the restart, a counter in the first minutes orchestrated by Brandt gave way to the third; Hazard’s work with a dry shot (48’). The three goals with a common denominator; the footballer’s loneliness after scoring, keeping his distance from his teammates.
After the goal of Eden’s brother, a soporific game was seen and that was far from something common in a season of the Bundesliga. The Borussia Dortmund withdrew, satisfied with harvested, and the ball and the players began to slow prowl. The teams split and broken equipment and inaccuracies gave way.
Today’s 4-0 win marked Borussia Dortmund’s 800th Bundesliga victory! 👏

With everything already decided, Haaland disguised himself as an assistant for Guerreiro with an excellent shot from outside; made the afternoon goal at Signal Iduna Park, meaningless; with its empty stands and without the breath of a ‘Yellow Wall’ to which the players paid tribute at the end of the match..
