Barcelona vs Osasuna (1-2): Sad farewell to the League at the Camp Nou, with a physically and melted Barca that lost to an Osasuna that finished with ten in the worst game of the season at home. A goal from Messi for a direct foul was useless in a game that has been a true reflection of the post-confinement. Barca has been less, while Madrid accumulated victories, not without a good dose of referee help.
De Jong’s return to the team was, perhaps, the best note in a night; that left very bad feelings for the Champions League. Arnaiz scored for Osasuna in the first half, reflecting Osasuna’s superiority on the scoreboard; and Roberto Torres in the final stretch, when Barca tried to overcome an opponent with ten.
A quarter of an hour from the end, more or less, Madrid put the lace to the League with the usual ‘show’. Sergio Ramos pool was transformed into a penalty by Hernandez Hernandez without even checking the VAR. Ramos tried the indirect penalty for Benzema; who scored but after entering the area in an irregular way. Despite the fact that Madrid was the offender; the penalty was repeated and he scored this time; Benzema the usual help, to round off the Barca mischief.
Barca’s eleven presented surprises. With Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati entering and Luis Suárez in the rotations to the benefit of Braithwaite; who in the first part was only very poorly scored a shot on goal; that the goalkeeper rejected for a corner and in the second he scored a goal annulled by offside; Setien opted to return to 4-3-3. It did not go well.
Barcelona with little to offer
It could have been a rehearsal for the Champions League, with Arturo Vidal and Sergio Busquets sanctioned against Naples. But Rakitic as a midfield was flat; Sergi Roberto as a right inside did not give depth and Riqui was especially unsuccessful; just like Messi when he went down to help the midline. An imprecise Barca only showed the nails before the break-in two fouls thrown by Messi and a diagonal of the Argentinean who ended in a relatively dangerous shot.
And the team from Navarre knew how to do their part to have fun at Camp Nou. He resorted to the formula of the three central Back, such as Leganes or Espanyol, a defensive conglomerate; that has routinely choked Barca, especially in the post-confinement League. He knew how to take advantage of that Barcelona bottleneck and extracted oil from the inaccuracies of midfield, especially Messi and Riqui Puig.
After Arnaiz’s first warning in a far shot due to a loss of Leo, Osasuna enabled by a great pass from Adrian. The center of Estupinan was relentlessly finished off by Arnaiz after an attempt to reject Piqué’s heel and in the midst of worrying defensive laziness of the Barcelona fans.
A second action by Osasuna, a shot from Moncayola before the defense’s laziness; that went out very narrowly could leave Barca in the UVI, but a score as tight as 0-1 allowed us to dream of a reaction after the break.
Reaction without ideas
A shot by Messi after a change of pace rejected by goalkeeper Herrera was Barca’s first real opportunity. Messi, far from the best level, was the main offensive argument of the Setien group. And, after three attempts, the fourth free-kick went to goal. For the squad, in a foul committed by Raul Navas on Suarez. A great goal. Messi left his seal with a brand thread of the house.
And another great goal, from Suarez from Chile to Leo’s center, was able to complete the comeback, but he was offside. Barca, psychically dead, attacked with few ideas to save the game while Madrid suffered against Villarreal. Courtois avoided the tie. the final straw would have been for Madrid to score and Barca not to beat Osasuna.
