Messi turns 33 years old on next 24 June
It takes just a month for Messi to turn 33 years old. Specifically, it will be next June 24 when the Argentinean reaches that age in which many footballers are considering and leaving high-level football. Clearly, this is not the case. The crack has not officially announced its continuity with Barcelona; with which it has the power to renew year after year; but its statements do indicate its intention to continue in the Catalan team for at least one more season.
The great doubt comes in knowing until when Messi will have decided to continue playing in a club like Barcelona where the demand is maximum. In front of him is a mirror that has been one of his motivations for many years_ Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese decided to leave Real Madrid for Juventus; where at 35 he continues to compete for everything and has signed a contract until June 2022.
Will he want to match what Cristiano is doing or will he decide to get off the football elite before and not continue to ‘punish’ his body until those 36 or 37 years that the Portuguese will surely arrive?
Messi is going to be who decides what he does, when he does it and where he does it. The Argentine will continue in Barcelona for as long as he wants; and today he is in great physical condition, as he has shown throughout the season. Everything will depend on him and what he wants to do in the future. If you want to follow the path of Cristiano and compete with the best three or four more years or are looking for retirement to Leagues like the MLS; which is gaining strength year after year on the world scene.
Messi debuted in the 2003-04 season at Barcelona as a child. 17 years have passed in which he has become one of the best players in history. Now, on the verge of turning 33, his mind is deciding how many more years he wants to play in the elite..
