“Dear Atletico, playing for Atletico Madrid has been one of the best things that have happened to me in my life. Those who know me know that I will always have my season ticket at the Metropolitano. I want to thank you for these two incredible years in which I have lived moments that I will never forget and in which I have felt like one more from the moment I arrived.
Fighting for these colors has been a true pride and celebrating goals with this shirt is a dream come true. It is such a great club because its people are what make it so great. All those historic nights that any soccer player would dream of living will remain forever engraved in my memory. In my heart, there will always be a place for you. Thank you Atletico Madrid ”.
The interest of Italian Juventus in his return – he played with the ‘Juventus’ team in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, with 27 goals in 93 games – combined with the attractiveness of returning to Italy for the player and the possibility for Atletico. The signing of Uruguayan Luis Suarez, for which he needs the departure of a forward, has been key to closing the operation. The 27-year-old Spanish striker leaves Atletico on loan after 61 official matches for the Atletico team (49 of League, 10 in the Champions League and two in the Spanish Super Cup ) in which he has scored 22 goals and delivered five assists to his teammates.
