Official: PSG sign Icardi permanently for reported 50 million euros
PSG has made the agreement with Inter official for the signing of Mauro Icardi. The French club has negotiated with the Italian entity the purchase option, which has been around 50 million euros. The striker’s performance has convinced everyone in Paris, before the possible departure of Cavani; who ends his contract on June 30 with the French club.
Mauro Icardi, who has been on loan from Inter Milan since last summer, will remain with PSG until the end of June 2024. Icardi becomes important in his first year on loan at PSG on the side of Mbappe and Neymar in the team attack. With 20 goals and 4 assists in 31 games. The Argentine was very happy in Paris and his objective was to continue under Tuchel’s orders.
Inter had made it clear that the purchase option for PSG was ending today; so it was a time trial negotiation until finding that agreement for 50 million-plus five bonuses; well below the 70 million that the club chaired by Nasser had at Khelaifi as a purchase option for the Argentine; who according to the Italian press will charge 10 million euros per season.
Icardi had already stressed several times that he would like to stay in Paris. In the canceled season, the Argentine scored 20 goals in 31 games, although he was often only used by the bank. While PSG Icardi is determined to hold, Edinson Cavani’s contract is unlikely to be renewed.
PSG have to decide now what to do with Cavani. The signing of the Argentine seems to definitively confirm the Uruguayan’s farewell, but he could still play games with PSG if the Champions returns since the team are classified for the quarters. Al Khelaifi will have to close some kind of agreement with Cavani for this series of matches. The other option that seems almost ruled out is to renew your contract..
